For the past couple weeks, I have had no issue with my wireless with my new desktop, however just starting a couple days ago, my wireless card is failing to connect to router, telling me I have to do the unplug router routine or that I have invalid configuration with the wireless network. Any suggestions on fixing?
It might be your router having a problem. Since how long you have the same router and what brand is it? Also, it might be some interference between your modem/router and any home phones, so a wireless connection may not pass through it.
We just got a new router recently because of a power surge from a lightening storm. As of brand, I have no idea. Our laptop connects and stays connected just fine, and so do the other devices, it's just my desktops wireless card having issues. Redownloading drivers, see if this will give it some help.
That could be your NIC (Network interface controller) being faulty then. Edit: I would recommend calling your ISP before chaning the NIC or anything. They obviously know more than I do.
Go to start/search bar type cmd, type ipconfig /release in cmd, then type ipconfig /renew, restart pc.. if that doesn't work bring up cmd window again type ipconfig /registerdns, restart computer, router/modem(leave unplugged for atleast 10 sec) (Both /renew and /release options only work on clients configured for dynamic (DHCP) addressing.) Check your TCP/IPv4-6 properties makes sure they are the same as what you see in cmd when you type ipconfig ( Im guessing its a registerdns issue ) Let me know If this doesn't work I have another idea how to fix..
