So found out one of my USB ports has an open to its connection, and in order for my other USB ports to operate, I have to cross the pins within the port to give them power. Now I asked Silver about it and of course I am going to take my laptop to a repair specialist (to at least get a quote). But for the shiggles, has anyone replaced a USB port in a laptop?
Can't say I have replaced a USB port in a laptop, but I have soldered connections back together. Rosin core solder and a low wattage iron would be called for (15-20W). But, don't try soldering around too close to other delicate electronics unless you know what you are up to. You can damage other circuitry if not careful.
