Another thing could be that it is hyper threaded, which means it makes your 3ghz single core, two 1.5 ghz virtual processors, which again is outta spec, but if you turn hyper threading off, your well over the requirements. I had a p4 like yours and the hyperthreading sucked for gaming. Just doin this alone might make a big Diff.
do you know how to get to your bios, most pcs all you have to do is hit delete as soon as you turn it on, Once your in, look through the menus until you either HT or hyper threading, you want to disable that, and then give it a try, and see if it makes it better or worse.
Disabling HT doesn't sound like a real good performance idea to me, but, try it and see. If it doesn't help, be sure to turn it back on and keep looking elsewhere for possibilities.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Dimension- ... _trksid=p4 Does this look like your mother board, if so, it has a pci e slot for a video card. Do you know what kind of card you have, if one at all.
First problem it's a Dell. Second problem if you ever want to change out parts on these pre-built computers it is a hassle unless you move everything from the pre-built computer case to a new case it will a little bit easier. It also seems like your computer is running on integrated graphics.
Step 1. Find the biggest hammer in the house/garage. Step 2. Hit the Motherboard as hard as you can. Step 3. Repeat till your arm hurts. Step 4. Build a new comp
Run the Windows performance metric and report back what scores you get. Be sure to include each of the 5 numbers. The over-all number is just the loest number of the five. I think MS calls it the Windows Experience Index. Run it and report back. Don't get outr a hammer just yet, but a P4 system is a little bit long in the tooth.
Wow you guys help with computer problems too! haha ill come to you guys then if i ever need help this is the best family ever! haha
