dude these bots are rediculous....they need to be turned down or reduced. when you are a zombie and you can't even move because they areturned all the way up, makes it agravating. i mean even human players don't do that...i think this is something that needs to be discussed amoung the mebers...it might be my PTSD acting up but i am really pissed right now.....
Yeah the bots CAN be a little annoying sometimes. But I find then useful when I'm the only one online or something. If we had friendly fire we can just take them out, but then players could kill each other too >.>
The bots are acting just like regular bots in a custom game but with just knives. It is their nature to surround the enemy and knife them. Considering they are bots, they can not distinguish the difference between a good guy and a bad guy due to how ZombieMods settings work. They are just doing what they were programmed to do. Its definately much better than cading yourself when everyone is gone early in the morning. -Scarecrow
Why bother having bots on the server at all? They don't attribute to it in any way, they take up VPS latency and slow the server down. Not to mention that they're semi-retarded. The focus should be on getting more players.
We don't run our servers on a VPS, as you should never do that. Bots help facilitate game play when there are a low amount of players on the server. They drop off once the servers has around 14 players.
What is the server run on if I may ask? Personally I think a VPS has quite a lot of benefits. c: In my opinion the only thing bots do is give players easy kills, and lessen the chance of a non-cpu being zombie, making the gameplay a tad bit boring.
Main reason you don't want to run a gameserver on a VPS is bad bandwidth. Resources also come into play, unless you have an awesome provider. We have a dedicated box and a few VDS's. Without any bots the game play would be a lot more boring. A simple scenario... a player joins in the middle of the night, only one other player on.... Not much of a game when it's 1 v 1, so the players leave, then no one else joins. The bots allow for players to enjoy some sort of game experience during low player counts,
I have a few contacts that run various private servers hosting up to 300+ players (not CS) If you're interested in finding a good VPS for a reasonable price I can ask around. Obviously dedicated has a lot of advantages, but it requires a lot of maintenence. I get what you're saying regarding bots, I guess I was wrong?
Thanks for the offer, but we are pretty well set at the moment. Our current host offers great DDOS protection and support. There's really not too much maintenance for a dedicated box, unless of course if you have hardware failure. Everyone has their own opinion about the bots, as of right now they are benefiting the server. That could change if the server becomes more popular, etc
